SPACE FOR WELLBEING
A collaborative environmental design

Led by neurodivergent artists, growers, makers and musicians

We questioned why are so many public spaces inaccessible to neurodivergent people?

We imagined what can be done creatively to make spaces a better sensory environment for everyone.

We invited communities to share their experiences and have fun exploring hands on, low cost, creative design solutions to improve their home, work and learning environments.
SENSORY DESIGN
In a collaboration between engagement artist Kate MacKay, textile artist and designer Jen Cantwell, sound artist Dave Martin and garden designer Eva Zandman, we explored how artists and designers regularly work with the sensory aspects of interior environments.
When designing an exhibition, performance, work or relaxation space, artists will shape the environment to change the way you feel. Light, sound, texture, colour and spatial design can all be used creatively to bring a sense of calm, flow, inclusion and connection to any space.

Throughout Spring and Summer 2024, we collaborated with communities to gather sounds from the seashore, discover patterns in nature, to plant, propagate and sow plants and ideas. We have made nature inspired furnishings that diffuse light, absorb sound and embrace us as we are, in all our infinite variations. We have had inspiring dialogues, forged deep connections and inspired new ideas, connections and possibilities.
